At the bench
From wax to shine
Every piece passes through the same four pairs of hands in the atelier before it is boxed.
- 01
Carve
Each design starts as a block of jeweller's wax, carved and filed by hand until it sits right on the finger or the collarbone.
- 02
Cast
The wax is cast in sterling silver at a family foundry in Johari Bazaar, a few streets from the atelier.
- 03
Set & plate
Stones are set by hand, and vermeil pieces are plated in a thick layer of 18k gold over the silver.
- 04
Polish
A last polish on the wheel, a check under the lamp and a turn on the form before it goes into its pouch.
