Materials explained

Up close, it is just cotton

What touches a baby all day should be simple to understand. Here is what our pieces are made of, and why.

  1. 01

    Organic cotton

Grown on farms in Madhya Pradesh and spun into yarn in Tamil Nadu. We buy it by the bale and know where each one came from.

  2. 02

    Low-impact dyes, or none

Most pieces are left the colour of the cotton. The pastels are dyed in small batches and washed until the water runs clear.

  3. 03

    Wool felt for the toys

The mobiles and stars are cut from dense wool felt and stitched with cotton thread, so nothing is glued.

How it is made

From the bale to the parcel

Four steps, all of them in one room, by six people.

  1. 1

    Cut

Fabric is washed first, then cut by hand from paper patterns on the long table.

  2. 2

    Sew

Seams are finished flat or turned to the outside where little skin would rub.

  3. 3

    Check

Every snap, button and stitch is pulled and looked over by someone who did not sew it.

  4. 4

    Wrap

Folded into a cotton bag with its care card, and sent off from the workroom.
