Every colour starts as loose pigment on a glass slab and only gets a name once it looks right on all six skin tones.
Pigments are weighed by the gram and ground into oil on a glass slab until there is no grit left to feel.
We adjust the undertone a drop at a time, so a red stays red on deep skin and a nude does not go grey on fair.
Lipsticks are poured into moulds and flamed for shine; powders are pressed by hand; lacquers are mixed in small drums.
Each batch is swatched on six tones, from malai to kattha. If it fails on one, it goes back to the slab.
Write to us with your skin tone, a photo in daylight if you like, and what you want to wear it for. We will reply with two or three shades to try.
