A boxy jacket and drawstring shorts in undyed linen that softens with every wash. Made for the months when Mumbai is mostly humidity.
WearVegetable-tanned leather · 18 cm
A small top-handle pouch, saddle-stitched with waxed thread. Holds a phone, a card and a lipstick, and darkens slowly as it is carried.
WearHand block-printed cotton
Printed by hand with carved teak blocks and natural dyes, then washed in the river-sand way of Bagru. A camp collar and a straight hem.

Oils, serums and soaps, distilled and cured slowly, for the bathroom shelf.

A light oil serum of cold-pressed seed oils with a little vetiver, the cool, earthy root used in summer screens. A few drops at night.

How we choose
How a thing earns a plinth
Everything in the building has been found, met, lived with and given a place by the four of us who run it.
Found
At a craft fair, a weaver's courtyard or a friend's kitchen table — almost never a catalogue.
Met
We visit the workshop, see how it is made and agree a fair price before anything comes to Mumbai.
Lived with
Each piece spends a month at one of our homes. If it does not get used, it does not get a floor.
Given a plinth
It goes on a floor with its maker's name and town beside the price, so you know whose hands it passed through.
