With your domain connected, you can have professional addresses like hello@yourname.com and orders@yourname.com — read, replied to and sent from your Sitesfare dashboard.
Your existing mailboxes, on your domain
You don't need new mailboxes. Once email is on for your domain, every mailbox your site already has works on it too: if you have contact@yourname.sitesfare.com, then contact@yourname.com arrives in the same inbox. Mail you send goes out as contact@yourname.com. Both addresses keep working, and the mailbox is counted once.
How many addresses?
As many as your plan includes, plus one for each custom domain plan (every custom domain plan comes with one email address), counted across your account (each website tool includes its mailboxes; the Extra mailbox add-on adds more). Domain & email and the Mail tab show "n of N used". Each one works on both your sitesfare.com address and your own domain.
Before you start
- Your custom domain must be Live (see Connect your own domain).
- Your plan must include email (Student plan and above).
- Already use email on this domain? (Google Workspace, Zoho Mail, Microsoft 365, your registrar's mail…) Switching the MX record moves all email for the domain to Sitesfare — the old inbox stops receiving. Only continue if you want Sitesfare to be your email for this domain.
Step 1 — Switch email on
Dashboard → your website → Domain & email → 5. Email on your domain → Switch on email for yourname.com.
The email domain is your connected domain without "www." — connecting www.yourname.com gives you @yourname.com.
Step 2 — Add four records at your registrar
Sitesfare shows these with your real values and a Copy button:
| Type | Host | Value | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| MX | @ | mail.sitesfare.com (priority 10) | Delivers your email to Sitesfare |
| TXT | @ | v=spf1 mx a:mail.sitesfare.com ~all | Lets Sitesfare send as your domain (SPF) |
| TXT | dkim._domainkey | a long v=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=… key | Signs your email so it isn't marked as spam (DKIM) |
| TXT | _dmarc | v=DMARC1; p=none; adkim=r; aspf=r | Recommended — tells inboxes what to do with mail that fails the checks |
Exact clicks for each registrar: Adding the DNS records at your registrar.
Important:
- Only one SPF record. If your domain already has a TXT starting with
v=spf1, don't add a second — addmx a:mail.sitesfare.cominto the existing one, before the~allor-all. - Remove other MX records for the domain, or some mail will keep going to the old provider.
- Copy the DKIM key exactly. Some registrars split long values into two quoted parts — that's fine.
Step 3 — Wait for the ticks
Back on Domain & email, press Check records now (it also re-checks by itself). Each record turns ✓ when the internet can see it — usually within minutes. When MX, SPF and DKIM are ✓, the status becomes Email is working on yourname.com.
Step 4 — Use your addresses
Your existing mailboxes already work as @yourname.com — open the Mail tab; it shows contact@yourname.com (also contact@yourname.sitesfare.com).
Need another one? Mail tab → + New address → type the part before the @ (e.g. hello) → Create. It works on both domains.
- Each address is chosen once and is permanent (people save and print it). To change one, contact support.
- Reserved names (
admin, postmaster, abuse, noreply, …) can't be used. - Sending is limited to protect your domain's reputation: a per-day allowance from your plan, and 20 messages per 10 minutes.
If your plan or domain lapses
- Custom domain plan not renewed: after the 3-day grace period, the
@yourname.comaddresses pause (renew within 60 days and they resume), and the same inboxes keep working on your sitesfare.com addresses. Renew and they resume. - Mailbox allowance reduced (a tool or Extra mailbox add-on ended): mail keeps arriving, but addresses beyond your allowance can't be read or sent from until it's restored.
- Email switched off or domain disconnected:
@yourname.comstops receiving until you switch it on again; your sitesfare.com addresses keep working.
